In light of the earthquake on February 6th that struck Turkey and Syria, thousands have died and many are injured. Bishop David J. Malloy of Rockford, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on International Justice and Peace, mourned the loss of the many lives, and called for the faithful to pray for those impacted, and to give generously to those in need, saying, “In a region that has experienced much conflict and hardship, these heartbreaking scenes call out to us to provide aid and assistance to our brothers and sisters in need” (USCCB). To support those most affected, including the members of the wider Church, in this particular time of urgency, various opportunities are available.
